A Domestic Kingdom (on 86 Square Meter)

A white wooden seagull oscillates on an invisible thread over the children's bed. A chair full of clothes in the corner of the room slightly touched by the light. Sun reflexion on the wall. Passersby wander the streets outside the house, during summer, autumn and winter. A grey sky, white clouds, a golden sunset. A new world emerges through the look towards the inside, focused and reduced. A world on 86 Square Meter, full of highs and lows, light and darkness. Meanwhile on the outside, the world still keeps turning as it did before. I'm looking out the window to make sure the world is still there, while inside everything is moving in slow motion and almost comes to a halt. 

“A Domestic Kingdom (on 86 Square Meter)” documents a time stillness and  isolation in the first year of age of the artists second child. The work was shot on a Super 8 camera and is presented in a nine piece video installation.
